Sunnynook Catchment PACT

Our community’s plan to make Sunnynook, Totara Vale and Forrest Hill stronger, safer and more connected.

The Sunnynook catchment (Sunnynook, Tōtara Vale, and Forrest Hill) was among the areas impacted by the 2023 extreme weather events. A community working group was established to support coordinated recovery efforts in the catchment. A key part of this work was community-led recovery planning, which supports local people to prioritise actions, identify needs, and support one another.

This local plan is shaped by the voices of Sunnynook catchment community members, gathered through workshops and conversations. We’re calling it the Sunnynook Catchment PACT — a framework built around People, Action, and Communication, with the aim of fostering greater Trust across the community.

Thanks to everyone who has been involved in shaping the plan through our survey, interviews or came along to our community event.

The Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office has launched community-led recovery planning, with funding from Auckland Council to help communities prioritise recovery activities. Community Think has been contracted to support the Sunnynook catchment, including Totara Vale and Forrest Hill, in identifying and planning their recovery priorities.
This community-led process will include activities to capture, test, and shape the ideas that emerge from people who take part. Keen to take part?
There are different opportunities to get involved. Find out about the different ways here or click here to stay in the loop.
We want to not only gather community voices, we want these voices to get involved and own the recovery in the Sunnynook catchment.
